Osamu Nakanishi

Osamu received his Ph.D. in biochemistry with Prof. Tadaomi Takenawa at the University of Tokyo in 1994 after an industry career as a research scientist at Mitsui Pharmaceuticals starting in 1985. He joined Nihon Schering KK in 2001, where he led multiple oncology research projects in epigenetics area. He then joined Takeda Pharmaceuticals in 2005 and supervised drug discovery activity both in Japan and US as Head of the Therapeutic Area Research Group in Oncology. He is currently Director of the West Japan Office Department of Innovative Drug Discovery and Development at the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development. His research focuses on oncology and covers transmembrane signalling, epigenetics, multidrug resistance, hormone signalling and splicing.
