Michael Brands

Michael Brands studied chemistry at the University of Münster (Germany) and completed his doctoral thesis at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim (Germany) in 1993. After a postdoctoral stay with Wolfgang Oppolzer at the University of Geneva (Switzerland), he started his industry career at Bayer in Medicinal Chemistry. Today he is SVP and head of the Drug Discovery Science Department at Bayer Pharmaceuticals R&D responsible for identification of therapeutic modalities (small molecules, conjugates, radiotherapeutics, therapeutic proteins). Since 2006, he teaches Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Paderborn (Germany).
