Mario van der Stelt
Leiden University
Mario van der Stelt is a full professor of molecular physiology at Leiden University and principal investigator at Oncode Institute in the Netherlands. He received his Ph.D in chemistry from Utrecht University and was a group leader in medicinal chemistry and project-leader of drug discovery teams in Merck Research Laboratories (Oss, the Netherlands). His current research focusses on the medicinal chemistry and chemical biology of lipid and kinase signaling in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. He develops chemical probes to study the biosynthesis and metabolism of lipid transmitters in the brain and immune system. He leads a program to develop chemical proteomic methods to guide the optimization drug candidates and to profile their target interaction landscape in preclinical models.
