Keriann Backus

Professor Keriann Backus is currently an Assistant Professor of Biological Chemistry and Chemistry and Biochemistry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford, supported by a Rhodes Scholarship, and completed postdoctoral studies at the Scripps Research Institute. Dr. Backus's current research aims to revolutionize the use of mass spectrometry-based proteomics to decipher the functions and therapeutic accessibility of human proteins. She is the recipient of several recent awards, including a V Scholar Grant, Beckman Young Investigator Award, DARPA Young Faculty Award, Packard Fellowship and NIH New Innovator Award.
